From destroying asteroids with a flick of the wrist to challenging friends with custom routes, the new Augmented Reality Climbing Wall (A.R.C) at Play: CLE in Avon creates a new style of climbing using technology.  One of the few augmented climbing walls in the country, and the first in NEO, the A.R.C. can introduce climbers of all skill levels to the cutting-edge technology.

“We have been watching this technology develop the last few years and have been thrilled with the response from guests this summer and the beta-testers that we have been working with,” said owner Greg Carlin.  Carlin believes that the addition of the A.R.C. will allow for guests to have even more adventures within the facility. “One of our core values is that guests should be able to Choose Their Own Adventure, and this is just another exciting entry into that concept,” remarked Carlin.  “We want to insure that Play: is accessible to all, and this new element has a ton of versatility to achieve that.”

The A.R.C. features a dozen climbing games that can be adjusted for the skill level of the climbers.  They will have the ability to compete head-to-head and solo.  Experienced climbers will enjoy the ability to create custom routes on the wall to test their skills and the skills of their fellow climbers.  Once the climb is finished, every climber will be able to enter their contact information and will receive via email a video of their climb.   Being able to post their videos on their social channels and compete against climbers in other locations is just an added benefit of the A.R.C. being installed at Play:.

Programming and hardware for the A.R.C. was developed by Valo Motion, an active entertainment company based in Espoo, Finland.  Valo Motion is the world leader in mixed reality equipment for athletes and entertainment.

The climbing wall will be available for individuals or small groups to reserve throughout the day at Play: CLE.  It will also be a featured add-on for their Corporate Team Building packages and their Birthday and Event packages.

Play: CLE, open in 2017, is a 25,000 square foot Indoor Adventure Park located in Avon, OH off of Chester Rd.  The brainchild of Greg and Bridget Carlin, the facility has had over 250,000 visitors since opening, and hosted over 1500 birthday parties for local children.
